Stone Arch 04:28
It's a delicate balance above a throbbing sea. You can't control the tides. What will it be? And will it succeed? It's time to build my own arch connecting there to here. Add to it year by year. The joining of two, the joining of two homes. Standing in the sun, makes my memory run, Standing in the sun, it's already begun, It's already begun. When setting down the last stone, (the most important part) Will it be falling down? What will it do? And what will I do now? Standing in the sun, makes my memory run, Standing in the sun, it's already begun, It's already begun.

about

Since I spend most of my time these days in front of a mixer, messing with sounds and layers and effects, I've developed an urge to make an album that relies on none of the extras and only upon the songs themselves. This is my attempt.

I recorded this album with Kira Sheppard in a cabin built by her dad in Summerville Newfoundland. We spent a week out there practicing, doing takes, snapping photos and swimming in the ocean. We had three mics, two voices, a harp and a guitar. It was all mixed down to stereo on the spot to a small tape machine, so it's a little crunchy at times.

Listen for the howl of an animal at the end of "Somewhere On Our Own."
